Although David Feng has not worked for even a single day as a full, formal member or employee of any railway company or other such entity anywhere in the world, he’s active as an independent professional in the rail community, and his engagements are global.

David sees the railways as part of arteries of communications, conveying not just passengers and cargo, but also cultures and novel ideas. He wishes to use encourage rail transport for a Greener future, and to let cultures and ideas flow in an age of uncertainty. The Arteries of Communications begin first with a look at these routes in China in Middle Middle Kingdom.

David explores countries and territories through the rail networks. The most noted such project is Next Station: China, started in 2017. It is now a permanent project to go to all stations on the Chinese railway network. Journeys also tend beyond stations into the respective city centres.
通過鐵路網，馮琰正發現各國各地，以發現中國各地鐵路車站之「Next Station: China」(下一站: 中國) 為最知名工作。此爲長期工程，前往中國所有鐵路車站，並陸續從車站離開，進入各地市區。

To rescue the Chinese railways from disaster post-Wenzhou crash, and to promote the railways to visitors and expats alike, David launched the Everyday Rail English movement in 2013, expanding it to metro services in 2018, and, especially post-Covid, is making it “both ways”, so to let rail transport bodies abroad also learn Chinese, encouraging Chinese travellers abroad and overseas travellers coming to China alike travel Greener by rail.
在溫州動車事故災難後，為救鐵路，同時鼓勵來華在華外籍人士達成鐵路列車出行，馮琰於 2013 年發起「鐵路英文一天一句」行動，於 2018 年擴為包括地鐵，而 2019 冠狀病毒疫情結束後則開始讓中國以外國家/地區鐵路單位學習華語，以致塑建雙語服務大動脈，鼓勵出國中國旅行者及來華外國旅行者綠色出行，首選鐵路列車出行。
